TEHRAN, Jul. 04 (MNA) – Head of the National Iraqi Alliance (NIA) Ammar Hakim held separate meetings with Iranian FM Zarif and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday in Tehran.

During his meeting with the two Iranian senior officials, Ammar Hakim discussed the latest political situation and ground developments in Iraq, particularly with regard to fighting ISIL terrorists. The sides also conferred on ways for expanding bilateral relations between the two countries.

Further details about the meetings were not disclosed to the media.

The meetings came in the wake of Iraq’s recent major victory against ISIL terrorists, namely the liberation of Mosul, the northern city that served as ISIL's de facto capital in Iraq.

The Iraqi official was visiting Iran as part of an objective to take part in the 9th General Assembly of the Islamic Radioand Television Union (IRTVU) which opened in Mashhad on Sunday.
