TEHRAN, Jun. 24 (MNA) – National Iranian Junior Volleyball team began Men’s U21 World Championships debut with a clear-cut victory over Italian rivals.

Iran did not give their opponent Italy any chance to make a set as they trounced the European side 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21).

The match was not about individuals as the strong team play by Iran led the Persian side to a tremendous victory.

Italy was poor on the receiving side giving Iran the chance to maintain the upper hand in the first two sets and gain a quick 2-0 lead.

Italians failed in their efforts to return to the game in the third set since Iran’s substantial team skills brought them a 3-0 victory over Italy.

Behrouz Ataei, coach of Iran, said post-match “this match was hard and yes we won but we don’t pay a lot of attention to it. Tomorrow will be another difficult one against Ukraine.”
