According to Bahram Ghasemi, Zarif’s two-day visit comes at the invitation of host countries including Algeria, Mauritania and Tunisia.
Iranian foreign minister is scheduled for talks with his counterparts as well as heads of the three north African states.
The visit aims at cementing bilateral ties and expanding cooperation, as well holding consultation on regional developments including Syria and the current issues regarding the Persian Gulf states.
“Regional developments require further unity among Muslim countries, and Iran believes that Islamic states need to form a more unified front against enemies and those who seek to create division among them,” Ghasemi added.
