Abbas Araghchi added that if the bill is approved by the Congress, Iran will report its objections against the US move in the next meeting of JCPOA joint commission in July. He added the exact date for the meeting is not decided yet and the sides are holding talks over it.
Araghchi went on to add, “according to articles 26 and 29 in the JCPOA, the Americans are obliged to implement the deal with good will and in a constructive atmosphere, and avoid any measure that would undermine the successful implementation of the agreement.”
“In our opinion, the measures taken by the US previous government and the new administration in the past year and a half have been in clear violation of America’s commitments to these three principles,” he added.
Araghchi then touched upon the claims by American officials about Iran’s support for terrorism, saying the position of US Congress in condemning Iran for supporting terrorism is ‘ridiculous, repugnant and shameful’.
He went on to add, “I think from the reactions we received of world leaders and people from various countries to the terror attacks on Tehran, it is clear that the world understands who is the victim of terrorism and who are the ones sponsoring it.”
