TEHRAN, May. 28 (MNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had a telephone conversation with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Saturday to exchange views on regional issues.

The Russian president congratulated Hassan Rouhani with the new term and wished him success.

The two leaders stressed the need for more joint efforts to resolve the Syria crisis and discussed economic ties.

The two presidents also discussed implementation of nuclear deal and underlined commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed between Tehran and the six world states in 2015.

Putin and Rouhani agreed to continue maintaining contacts within bilateral and multilateral formats, as well as expressed commitment to deepen the multifaceted bilateral interaction in accordance with the agreements reached during the visit of Rouhani to Russia on March 27-28.

Touching upon the situation in Syria, the parties stressed importance of developing joint efforts to favor the political resolution of the conflict in Syria, including in the framework of the Astana process.

The leaders agreed to continue contacts both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
