TEHRAN, May 25 (MNA) – President Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart emphasized on improvement of bilateral ties to boost economic relations.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who talked to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the phone on Wednesday evening appreciated his Turkish counterpart’s congratulatory call and highlighted the lst four years as time for expansion and deepening of relations and cooperation between Tehran and Ankara; “to reach a $30 billion trade exchange between the two countries, a leap in relations is required,” he stressed.

“Iran is committed to reach this level of trade between the two neighbors and now is a good opportunity to realize areas on interest to the two countries,” Rouhani said. “Improvement of banking relations will be an important base for expansion of ties and can encourage great banks in two countries to have more relations.”

Iranian president also highlighted bilateral and trilateral cooperation along with Russia in regional issues including Astana talks and deemed them a step toward peace and stability in region.

In conclusion, Rouhani felicitated arrival of holy month of Ramadan to Turkish president and nation and wished them prosperity.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his part dubbed high turnout of Iranians in election and large vote to President Rouhani as sign of public support for him and stressed Turkey’s resolve to raise level of relations with Tehran.

“Tehran-Ankara ties are developing and their improvement in bilateral and multilateral areas is very important,” Erdoğan said and emphasized that there is no obstacle on the way to boost cooperation between the two countries.

He also noted that Iran, Russia and Turkey along with other countries can accelerate Astana talks to bring peace, stability and welfare to the region.

Turkish president also called for quick formation of high strategic council for relations between Iran and Turkey with presence of the two presidents.
