TEHRAN, May 11 (MNA) – Afshin Biabangard and Hossein Nouri Rahi have made it into the final of the Asian Senior Wrestling Championships in India in 71kg amd 85kg weight categories.  

On Thursday and the second day of the continental sporting event in the Indian capital city of New Delhi, Iranian wrestler Afshin Biabangard overcame his Indian opponent 3-1 and the Kirgiz opponent 5-4, and thus made it into final bout of the 71-kilogram weight category. Biabangard will take on Japan to battle for the gold medal.

In 85-kilogram weight category, Hossein Nouri defeated his South Korean opponent 6-0, the Chinese opponent 5-2, and the Kyrgyz opponent, thus making it into final bout where he will take on Japan.

Meanwhile in the 59-kilogram weight category, Saman Abdevali lost to his Japanese opponent 9-4 in the semi-final and will take on a Kirgiz wrestler in the ranking bout.

On Wednesday, Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers received four medals, including three gold ones, in the 80-kilogram, 98-kilogram, 130-kilogram, and 66-kilogram weight class.

The Asian Senior Wrestling Championships kicked off in New Delhi, India, on May 10, and will run through May 14, 2017.
