TEHRAN, May 07 (MNA) – Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that Islamic Republic possess invaluable sources of education, rejecting UNESCO's Global Education Agenda 2030.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Week, hundreds of teachers from across the country met with Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei on Sunday where the Leader highlighted the importance of education as a foundation for science and research in the country, emphasizing that if the education advances based on proper plans and policies, the country would be rich in terms of science and research, however, if the opposite happens, the foundation will be adversely affected and its losses will be incalculable.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned about the process that seeks to eliminate the position and the value of education, saying “the move is directed from outside the country and the only way to deal with it, is to overcome the weaknesses in different areas of education.”

The leader also referred to the ailment of “Academicism”, which is obsessive infatuation with university expansion, as one of the drawbacks of education, calling it a wrong policy which unfortunately affects the education of the students from elementary till graduation.

He underlined that there are other urgent needs in the country needless of academic education and accordingly, he added, “I have stressed the need for years to strengthen the interest to the conservatories and vocational centers, too.”

Elsewhere in his speech, Leader of Islamic Revolution said the documents such as UNESCO’s Global Education Agenda 2030 are not something the Islamic Republic would shoulder or abide by.

“Who gives a so-called international body which is certainly under the influence of world powers, the right to decide for world nations who possess various cultures and civilizations?, Leader asked, denouncing the decision as a wrong one; “signing the document and implementing it covertly is absolutely rejected; it should be announced that Islamic Republic has its own supreme educational sources and does not need any other document.”

He also expressed dissatisfaction with the function of Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, noting the organization failed to prevent such impositions; “they had to be more careful not to let such moves to happen; here is the Islamic Republic where the basis is the Islam and Holy Quran and there is no room for corrupt and disparaging Western lifestyle.”

Ayatollah Khamenei later touched upon the upcoming presidential elections underlining the vitality of national events in protecting the grandeur and impunity of the nation; “elections in Islamic Republic originates from the Islam; 'Republic' was not merely attached to 'Islam' and without elections there existed no Islamic Republic today."

"The presence of all the people, with different political preferences, in May 19 elections will guarantee sovereignty, dignity and security of the country and if this endeavor continues with Divine blessing in our people, the enemy will never be able to do a damn thing," the Leader said adding "if the efforts and the will continue with the same intensity and grandeur, the enemies will never dare to do any wrong against the country."..

"People’s presence intimidates enemy as they see 80 million standing against them; this forms grandeur of Islamic Establishment, which roots in presence of people,” Leader concluded.
