TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – Iranian director Kaveh Mazaheri’s ‘Retouch’ won Best Short Film award at Tribeca Film Festival in New York and a chance to compete at the Academy Awards.

Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, short movie Retouch is about a young woman whose husband is trapped under a halter during a workout, but she declines to save him and, consequently, he dies.

The film has won the award for best short film at the 18th Iran Cinema Celebration and Best Film Award at Iran's 34th Fajr Film Festival. ‘Retouch’ will enjoy its next international screening at the 57th Kraków Film Festival in Poland.

Kaveh Mazaheri, who was unable to attend the ceremony in New York due to the recent US travel ban, thanked the jury panels in a video and dedicated his award to “all immigrants around the world who are struggling for a better life.”

The 16th Tribeca Film Festival was held in New York on 19-30 April, 2017.
