Iranian President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks at the end of his regional tour to southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchistan on Tuesday to inaugurate some urban and development projects in the region, where he was slated to depart for Islamabad to attend the 13th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit upon an official invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“Pakistan is among our good neighbors with which the expansion of relations will help develop Sistan and Balouchistan province and the whole region,” he underlined.
He added that the Islamic Republic highly regards ECO which is the only important regional cooperation organization that Iran is one of its founders and which is home to 10 countries for the time being.
In addition to discussions with all memeber states at the Summit, we will hold bilateral meetings with some leaders of the participating countries, as well, and hope it would be a total blessing for the country, he noted, adding the event will also examine long-term planning for 2030 horizon.
Our region is in a critical condition suffering from issues such as terrorism Rouhani asserted; “in addition to economic issues, security issues will also be discussed with leaders of other countries and we hope that all countries help restore security to the region while witnessing the prosperity and development, as well.
