Ghasemi’s remarks came after Iranian drama The Salesman won the Oscar on Sunday for best foreign language film.
While hailing the cast and crew of the film and Iranian artistic and cultural community for winning the second Oscar, Ghasemi said in today's world artists play an important role, more than all eras and decades, in strengthening friendship and alliance between nations against unwise policies and demagogic and malicious actions in the international arena; “we are very pleased that once again a capable and prominent Iranian director could send the message of peace and friendship to all people in the world.”
Hailing Asghar Farhadi and Taraneh Alidousti for boycotting the Academy Awards Ceremony in protest at President Trump's ban on immigrants from Muslim-majority nations, including Iran, and to respect to the people of their country, Foreign Ministry spokesman said the move showed that contrary to all extremist and biased behavior around the world, still the voice of moderation and peace is reverberating; “what emerged at the event showed that today's world has passed the restrictions, building walls and barbed wires."
Iranians once again send another valuable message to all the people of the world on the eve of the spring and the Nowruz; “friendship and peace will stand against discrimination, hatred and wars.”
