The statement called the public to come to streets and participate in a demonstration it aptly called ‘We Shall Not Fear Death,’ Voice of Manama (Sawt al-Manama) report said. “We call the people to join in large numbers to demonstration ‘We Shall Not Fear Death’ in support of Islam and Sheikh Issa Qassim, and in renewal of allegiance to the blood of the martyrs,” the statement was quoted as reading. “Hail the call of Bahraini Shia scholars and leaders, clad in a white shroud.”
Sheikh Issa Qassim will stand a trial in a court in Manama on the upcoming Monday which will be the last hearing of his case. Earlier Bahraini religious figures urged people to defend Sheikh Qassim calling it a religious duty for Bahraini people.
Sheikh Qassim’s trial had been surprising and was equally denounced by human rights organizations based in Manama since he has largely espoused peaceful demonstration and rejected violence.
