TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy FM Ebrahim Rahimpour who is in Baku for Caspian Sea talks met with Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Thursday.

The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that Iran's Deputy FM for Asia-Oceania Affairs and Special Envoy for Caspian Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour and Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov who met on Thursday in Baku were satisfied with the results of the bilateral talks and the level of bilateral relations.

Mr. Rahimpour who was visiting Baku to seat the 48th meeting of the Ad Hoc working group, tasked to develop a draft convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status, and he met with Mr. Mammadyarov after the session of working group.

During the meeting between Rahimpour and Mammadyarov the two sides examined the cooperation between the two countries and underlined the political will of their countries’ presidents for more development of relations.

“The visits and meetings made and held by the presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan, reciprocal visits made by senior officials of the two countries, the activities of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Azerbaijan, and the interaction between the two nations all contribute to the development of bilateral ties,” asserted the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The two sides also laid stress on the importance of meetings of the Ad Hoc working group, tasked to develop a draft convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status, as a major contribution to finalizing the legal convention of the Caspian Sea.

The two parties also exchanged views on developing transportation between the two countries and completing the under-construction rail route between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Iran's Deputy FM for Asia-Oceania Affairs and Special Envoy for Caspian Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour arrived in Baku on Tuesay.

The 48th meeting of the Ad Hoc working group, tasked to develop a draft convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status, at the level of deputy foreign ministers was held in Baku on Wednesday and Thursday.
