In response to the reckless and absurd remarks made by Baroness Joyce Anne Anelay, Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister for the British Overseas Territories and Foreign Office Minister for Human Rights, during the meeting of the House of Lords on Tuesday, Ghasemi said, “false, inappropriate, provocative, interventionist statements of Anelay which is as always based on unreliable sources against Iranian human rights, is baseless and unfounded.”
It seems like an irony, Ghasemi noted, “Britain is advising others to observe human rights principles, while it holds a dark record on the issue.”
He stressed that recent positions of UK senior officials will lead to the destruction of opportunities for the promotion of relations between Iran and the UK.
“Violations of human rights under the pretext of terrorism, lack of transparency and independence in the trial of suspects accused of terrorism, violation of the rights of refugees and immigrants and workers, especially women and children, British Air Force drone attacks and the killing of innocent civilians in Syria, participation in destruction, killing and brutal crimes against the Yemeni people by selling advanced and destructive weaponries to child killer Saudi Arabia, poor prison conditions, violence, murder and suicide in prisons, increase in crimes related to racial discrimination against minorities and Britain’s divisive policies in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf with the aim to destabilize the region, are only a small part of instances for human rights violations committed in Britain,” Ghasemi underlined.
