Ali Larijani made the remarks in today’s open session of Parliament, adding “Hashemi withstood imprisonments and torture so that the Combatant Clerics movement could assemble the necessary requirements for leading the masses.”
He went on to add, “during those dark days, Hashemi and a number of other prestigious combatant clerics were the manifestation of fighting against tyranny for Muslim students, intellectuals and politicians.”

“During his terms as Iran’s President, he showed admirable resistance against the plots by the opposition and as commander-in-chief of the Iranian military during Iraq’s Imposed War, he gave tremendous support to soldiers at war fronts,” he said.
Larijani further praised Hashemi Rafsanjani for having bestowed considerable support and encouragement to all officials and manages who were making efforts for the country’s prosperity and development.
“It is of the greatest regret that we have lost this revolutionary and intelligent man who was indeed the man of difficult times and always inspired Revolution’s managers toward further activity and endeavor for the country’s development,” he said.
