TEHRAN, Jan. 08 (MNA) – The deadline for submission to the Mustafa (PBUH) Prize Secretariat has expired on December 31, and new works will not be accepted, According to the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation (MSTF).

A total number of 152 works were submitted to the Mustafa Prize Secretariat in four categories of “Life and Medical Science and Technology”, Information and Communication Technology”, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, “All areas of Science and Technology”.

The call for the 2017 Mustafa Prize began in April last year. Evaluation sessions run by Expert Committees have been in the works since September last year in order to screen the submitted works and finally present a list of selected works to the respective Jury Committees. Works with the highest votes from the Jury Committees will be announced as the winners of the 2017 Mustafa Prize, during the biennial awards ceremony scheduled for December this year.

According to the MSTF, the Mustafa Prize seeks to honor top Muslim scientists and researchers from across the world, whose works have “significant impact” on the welfare of human beings.

The first awards ceremony of the Mustafa Prize was held in 2015 in Tehran, where Professor Omar Yaghi from Jordan and Professor Jackie Ying from Singapore nabbed the award in the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and the Bio-nanotechnology categories, respectively.
