TEHRAN, Jan. 02 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Deputy General for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the UNSC resolution to support the Syrian ceasefire would be effective in fighting terrorism.

Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, he said the resolution issued by the Security Council on Saturday was an effective measure to complete the political process and help fight against terrorism.

Hailing the measure, he said the role of Russia and companion of Turkey in the issue are very significant, but in the absence of serious international resolve, it will surely fail.

Amir-Abdollahian asserted that despite the fact that the Americans did not veto the resolution, they still have double standard policy toward terrorism.

“The Americans’ behavior proves no guarantee to keep their promises; they have consistently broken promises and have never taken a deliberate behavior in the fight against terrorism, in line with the interests of the region,” Amir-Abdollahian noted.

Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the upcoming Syria talks. due to be held in Astana of Kazakhstan, and said the meeting has had preliminaries the first stage of which. was victory of resistance in Aleppo, "a major step on which Syrian nation and government should be hailed.".

The second step was ceasefire in Syria which was supported by the Security Council, he said, noting that the cases pave the way for the Astana meeting which is to materialize the diplomatic approach on Syria.
