TEHRAN, Jan. 01 (MNA) – World Archery, in its round-up of the top moments of 2016, named Iran’s Zahra Nemati as the second best performer of Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

According to a survey conducted by World Archery, the international federation for the Olympic sport of archery, the best performances of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games have been announced with Iranian female archer in the second position.

The top position on the list has been taken by the Great Britain para archery team who, building up to a golden final 24 hours, delivered performance after performance taking home three golds, two silvers and a bronze to top the Paralympic medal table.

Meanwhile Iran’s Nemati lands second on the least for performing the extraordinary feat of defending a recurve title from London 2012 with a dramatic, 6-4, win over World Archery Para Champion Wu Chunyan in the Olympics in Rio.

Nemati also took a silver in the recurve mixed team with Ebrahim Ranjbarkivaj, bringing Iran’s total tally of archery medals to four. Her seemingly endless popularity with the Rio crowd, who were chanting her name throughout, seemed to help.

The third ranking on the list of top Rio archers belongs to China’s Zhou Jiamin who broke the world record for a 15 arrow match and took gold in the compound women’s open and the compound mixed team open competition.

Also on the list of the best all-round archers of the season, Zahra Nemati’s name was included in the Honorable Mentions for the year 2016. In London, Nemati made history, becoming the first Iranian woman to win gold at either Games. Later in Rio, she competed at both Olympic and Paralympics. At the former she carried her nation’s flag, and at the latter she won another individual gold. Zahra continues to be an inspiration.
