Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan made the remarks on Monday, while stressing the significance of the presence of Iran in Syria and Iraq and how that presence has been to the benefit of the Revolution and the Resistance Front; “we see the security of the region as our own; any instance of insecurity and conflict in a country in the region will surely undermine the security of others,” he added.
“The Americans and Israelis are not the least concerned about the current state of the region,” he said, warning that the enemy is constantly plotting against the region according to circumstances.
Dehghan noted the Islamic Republic’s policy toward the fight against Takfiri terrorists in Iraq, adding “preserving the scared sites of Iraq was the most important issue to us. Our policy required us not to keep silent on this matter, and thus this became an issue of our national security.”
He further stressed that no country outside Iraqi borders has the right to decide for the future of that country, noting that partitioning Iraq is unacceptable.
The Iranian defense minister warned that the Takfiri-terrorist movement created by Americans, Israelis, reactionary Arabs and even certain countries such as Turkey, is not limited to Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq, stressing that the impact of terrorism has undermined the whole global security.
“If we consider the role of our martyrs in Syria more prominent that those who lost their lives during the Imposed War, it is because a world has been formed led by the US which has now specifically targeted the Islamic World,” he said.
