TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – President Rouhani of Iran, who had arrived late on Wednesday to Astana was officially welcomed at the presidential palace of Kazakhstan on Thursday.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was officially welcomed by Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Akorda Palace, Kazakh president's residence, in Astana on Thursday morning and the two officials introduced the high-ranking members of their delegations to each other before starting their talks.  

Upon arrival to Astana International Airport, late on Wednesday, the Iranian president was welcomed by Kazakh Investment and Development Minister, Zhenis Kassymbek, Kazakh Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Akylbek Kamaldinov, Iranian ambassador to Astana and Iranian embassy's staff.

Astana is the second stop in President Rouhani’s regional tour of Central Asian countries. Mr. Rouhani started his tripartite tour on Wednesday in Armenian capital city of Yerevan where he met Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, and Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan.

Later on Friday he will leave the Kazakh capital city of Astana for Bishkek, the capital city of Kirgizstan, to wrap up his three stop tour of Central Asian countries. The visits are made at the invitation of the respective countries’ heads of state.
