TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – Three events of the quarterfinals of Iran’s Hazfi Cup were held on Tuesday and the remaining event will be held in Tabriz on Wednesday.

Sepahan of Isfahan lined up against Saipa of Alborz at 13:30 local time at Naghshe Jahan Stadium in Isfahan to kick off the quarterfinals round of Iran’s Hazfi Cup on Tuesday.

Four minutes into match the hosts were rewarded a penalty kick which was converted by Ehsan Hajsafi. While the visitors got disappointed to equalize, Rasoul Navidkia scored the second goal for the hosts just three minutes to the final whistle to ensure a 2-0 victory for the golden giants of Isfahan to move on to the semifinals of the cup.

The second fixture of the day started at 14:00 local time at Shohadaye Naft Stadium of Gachsaran where the red giants of Tabriz thrashed Naft and Gas of Gachsaran 3-1. Shahram Goudarzi at the 18th minute put the visitors ahead and the reds ratified their lead at minute 30 with a goal by Farzad Hatami. Mohammad Hatami scored the third goal for Tractorsazi at minute 76 and three minutes later Hadi Khanifar converted a free kick for the hosts.     

Nabiollah Assadi, of Naft and Gas of Gachsaran, missed a penalty kick in front of 8000 spectators of the city. After the elimination of Naft and Gas of Gachsaran only Premier League clubs are remained in the race for the Hazfi Cup.

In Tehran, the last fixture of the day was a bitter result for the blue giants of the capital city as they lost 3-2 to Naft of Tehran. Naft is now slated against Sepahan of Isfahan at the semifinals of the Cup.

The last fixture of the quarterfinals round will be held on Wednesday in Tabriz where Gostaresh foulad of Tabriz will line up against Zowbahan of Isfahan.
