The agreement was signed by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan and South African Minister of Defense and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Noluthando Mapisa-Nqakula in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Dehghan led a high-ranking defense-military delegation to Pretoria on Tuesday at the official invitation of his South African counterpart.
Following the signing of the MoU, the defense ministers of both countries stressed resolve for promoting regional and international peace, stability and security and noted a decisive and all-out fight against terrorism as one of the key topics of the agreement.
The MoU also includes cooperation on marine security and exchanging experiences on fighting organized crimes.
Dehghan is the first Iranian defense minister after the Islamic Revolution to visit South Africa on an official visit.
