TEHRAN, Nov. 08 (MNA) – ICRC head had told Iran’s Ali Larijani that his fellow organization have been fighting the view that Islam is the roots of all terrorism in the regional conflicts.

On Tuesday, Ali Larijani received Mr. Peter Maurer, head of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Larijani voiced Iran’s willingness to play a role in ICRC missions and humanitarian programs. “Parliament views ICRC activities in positive light, and would work with the organization in good faith to help with projects in disaster-stricken regions,” Larijani told the meeting.

Parliament speaker also believed that much of the fight against terrorism now had been military and security-centered; “the cultural roots of extremism should also receive enough consideration,” he added.

Mr. Maurer expressed gratitude for Iran’s Parliament role in working with the ICRC in attainment of its visions; “ICRC has a priority in finding proper means of propagating Islamic human rights and the values the religion places on the man; Islam has largely been implicated with being the roots of extremism and fundamentalism evident in terrorist’s atrocities, and the ICRC has a mission to fight this mentality of hatred; conflicts and humanitarian disasters entail ICRC’s more engagement with Iran in delivering aid to the affected communities in the region,” he emphasized.
