TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (MNA) – A POGC official said platform 18B of South Pars gas field became operational on today with a daily capacity of 500 million cubic feet of gas.

Project Director of Phases 17 and 18 at Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Hassan Boyeri said inauguration of the new platform will add about 43 million cubic meters to the overall production capacity in offshore section of the two phases.

“Gas resources of platform 18B will also increase daily ethane production by about 500 tons per day as well as adding 20 thousand barrels of gas condensate to products of phases 17 and 18,” he continued.

Boyeri noted that transmission of gas from platform 18B to refineries of the two South Pars phases has been made possible following completion of the submarine pipeline.

“Since the launch of phases 17 and 18, an aggregate total of 12.5 billion cubic meters of gas, 9.5 million barrels of gas condensate, 260 thousand tons of ethane and around 300 thousand tons of propane and butane have been recovered,” stressed the official.

He went on to maintain that refineries of phases 17 and 18 presently desalinate 40 million cubic meters of gas 30 million cubic meters of which is received from platforms of the same phases while the rest is recovered from phases 6, 7 and 8.

The platform 18B was made by domestic technicians at Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex Co (ISOICO) at Bandar Abbas industrial yard.

Construction of Platform 17B has been also accomplished and the structure will be installed in the months to come.
