TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (MNA) – Member of Iran's national archery team has snatched the country's first gold medal at Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 1.

Competing in female recurve division, Iran's Parisa Rouhanian faced and out powered an Italian rival in the semifinal round of  2016 Indoor Archery World Cup in Marrakesh. 

Rouhanian's compatriot, Sogand Rahmani also overcame a host country athlete in the same division securing a place in the finals. 

At the final showdown of the first stage of 2016/17 Indoor Archery World Cup, Rouhanian pulled out a 6-2 victory over Rahmani bringing home Iran's first ever gold medal in the tournament. 

The first stage of the 2016/17 Indoor Archery World Cup, an international 18-meter circuit, ran 26-27 November 2016 in Marrakesh, Morocco. 

There will be four Indoor Archery World Cup Stages (IAWCS) in 2016 - 2017 for recurve and compound divisions in indoor archery, male and female in four cities around the world, namely Marrakesh in Morocco (26-27 November 2016), Bangkok in Thailand (09-11  December 2016), Nimes in France (20-22  January 2017) as well as Las Vegas of the USA (10-12 February 2017).
