Mr. Dehghan underlined that Basij was established in defiance of the circles of wealth and power, and which would contribute to the Revolutionary waves as long as it saw it attaches to the Revolutionary ideals of the system; “the war years (1980-88) was formative years of the Revolution when nation had to succeed against odds; such mentality governed the enemies’ mentality that how subduing a young Revolution would be possible; however, a defenseless nation turned out quite to be a surprise, since an element of Basij was present in the subtext of the society which also was a formidable force in terms of fighting cultural invasion launched latter after the war,” he told the meeting.
“We see traces of Basij culture and mentality crystalized in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen; nations were inspired by Basij, an inspiration made possible resisting the most violent of the encroachments against them; Ministry of Defense is also imbued with this mentality and culture; in economy as well, we have to rely on Basij culture to made the improbable possible,” Dehghan continued his encomiastic of the Basij.
Still in other issue, Dehghan told reporters after his address of the meeting that Iran would buy Sukhoi Su-30 fighter and the Ministry had been engaged in negotiations to commission the deal; “along the actual fighter, we will also negotiate a technology transfer to the Ministry in the deal as an essential part of the deal,” he said.
Dehghan also said that all countries except Israel and the US would provide Iran with its defensive needs; on Russian use of Hamadan’s Nojeh Airbase in the future, he provided assurances that Iran would contribute to any action which sought to protect Syrian legitimate government in Damascus, which “would entail working with Russia in any form of action.”
On China and country’s defense minister visiting Tehran earlier last week, Dehghan told reporters that a number of defensive agreements had been hit; still on Trump’s election, Dehghan echoed Leader’s remarks who said that regardless of whom was in the White House, Iran would continue its policies in the region and no changes would be predicted; “Iran’s direction is straight and will never bow to any pressures by any enemy,” he concluded.
