Russia and the United States have not broken off military contacts that continue in Geneva, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Wednesday.
"Work continues not only through military attaches in Moscow, but also directly. As for the Americans, military contacts are not interrupted, they are continuing, including in Geneva where military delegations are working," Ryabkov said.
Asked whether the nine members of the so-called Lausanne format, including the United States, the UN envoy and regional countries, have been informed of resumed airstrikes in Syria, the Russian diplomat disputed their characterization as "massive."
"All our strikes in Syria are targeted, proportionate, verified. Sticking labels is the practice of those who politically and in other ways oppose Russia," Ryabkov stressed.
