TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (MNA) – National Iranian junior football managed to garner a 1-0 victory over Nigeria at South Korea’s U-19 Football Tournament 2016 on Thursday.

National Iranian junior football squad bagged a 1-0 victory over Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets (Nigeria U17) with Reza Karamolachaab’s 79th minute strike in the Suwon Continental Cup in South Korea.

Nima Mirzazad, Ali Shojaei, Aref Gholami, Nima Taheri, Sina Khadempour, Reza Shekar, Mehdi Mahdikhani, Ali Taherian, Hossein Saki, Shahin Abbasian and Reza Jafari made up Iran’s starting lineup.

The young Cheetahs, who conceded a 1-3 defeat in their first encounter against South Korean hosts on Tuesday, have to line up against England at their last game at the sportive event on Saturday.

The Nigerians have to face the hosts, South Korea, in their last game of the tournament on Saturday.

South Koreans who have defeated Iran 3-1 and England 2-1 in their first two matches are very hopeful for the top prize, with six points from the last two games.

South Korea’s U-19 Football Tournament 2016 marks a preparatory stage for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 and will be attended by South Korea, Nigeria and England.

The 21st edition of FIFA’s biennial event of U-20 World Cup, the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be hosted by South Korea between 20 May and 11 June 2017.
