“Iran has a special focus on knowledge economy,” said Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs, Sorena Sattari, on Tuesday while visiting Zhongguancun Science Park of China, “and to fulfill this policy, we announce readiness to expand, more than ever, cooperation with scientific centers of China.”
The Iranian official who is visiting China at the head of a scientific delegation made the remark in the company of Zeng Xiaodong, international business director of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee.
There are 28 science and technology parks in Iran and the biggest of start-ups of the Middle East in the fields of bio-technology and information technology are from Iran,” reiterated the VP for science and technology, “we intend to change the direction of Iran’s economy from an oil-revenue based economy to a knowledge-revenue based economy.”
Recounting the facilities and services provided by the Iranian government for knowledge-based companies, like loans and tax exemptions, Sattari voiced willingness to have Chinese companies of the field in Iran.
Zeng Xiaodong, for his part, in the meeting, voiced his content with the visit made by the Iranian delegation and affirmed that Zhongguancun Science Park is ready to expand cooperation with Iran’s Department of Science and Technology Affairs.
The biggest and oldest of the 53 national high-tech zones in China, Z-Park (short for Zhongguancun Science Park), is made up of a group of seven parks, covering an area of about 100 square kilometers at the northwest edge of Beijing, close to the city's internationally esteemed educational institutions such as Tsinghua University, the University of Beijing, and the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).
