TEHRAN, Oct. 22 (MNA) – Payame Noor University basketball club beat Serbian rivals to secure a place at quarterfinals of 3x3 FISU World University League (WUL) 2016.

On the second day of International University Sports Federation (FISU) 3x3 FISU World University League underway in China, Payame Noor University squad overcame the European champion Serbia’s University of Kragujevac.

The Persians pulled out a 16-15 victory and found a place among top eight teams of the tournament after taking the top position in Group B.

Basketball players of Iran had previously breezed past University of Johannesburg who represented Republic of South Africa (16-9) as well as Indiana University of the USA (21-15).

The Iranian outfit had opened the tournament by pulling out a 16-9 victory over University of Johannesburg who represented Republic of South Africa.

On 21 October 2016, the 2nd edition of the 3x3 FISU World University League started in Xiamen of China and will run for 3 days and with the finals on 23 October.

In total, 32 teams, 16 teams of each gender, from 23 countries representing five continents will compete to win the tournament of this year’s FISU 3x3 WUL.
