TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (MNA) – Iran will participate in the 61st edition of Belgrade Book Fair as the Guest of Honor for 2016 to introduce Iranian culture and literature to a wide audience.

The 61st edition of one of the oldest and most important cultural events in region will be held on Oct. 23-30 October in Belgrade, Serbia, with the Islamic Republic of Iran selected as this year’s Guest of Honor.

Iran will have a prominent location in the Arena of Hall 1 to present its rich culture and particularly literature to a wide audience by holding book and author promotions, lectures, and seminars at the exhibition stand and in the conference halls.

Iran will also take this opportunity to present its most prominent authors, translators, publishers, distributors, and all others in connection with literature.

Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), with a wide range of cultural and artistic activities in the field of mental and cultural development for children and young adults, will have its own separate stand to present 130 titles including novels, picture books, teen plays, and catalogue of novels and picture books published in 2016.

This year, publishers from a large number of countries including Iran, Russia, Australia, UK, Italy, Greece, India, France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Romania and Poland will take part in the fair with over 150,000 book titles.

Previous Guests of Honor at Belgrade Book Fair were Norway (2002), Canada (2003), France (2004), UK (2005), USA (2006), Italy (2007), Japan (2008), Greece (2009), Sweden (2010), the Portuguese language (2011), Hungary (2012), Poland (2013), China (2015) and Russian Federation (2015).
