The Iranian squad faced Qatari rivals on the second day of the AFC U-19 Championship Bahrain 2016 at the Bahrain National Stadium on Friday in an encounter which ended in a tie.
Iran’s Razzaghpour netted and own goal in the 38th minute in order to give Qatar the lead while he compensated for the loss after scoring a powerful goad from outside the box.
Persians scored the equalizer 59 minutes into the match though the team had been reduced to 10 men shortly after the break.
Following the showdown, Iran coach Amir Peiravani said “the first match is always so difficult. Our team had two problems. The weather was not good and we got a red card in the second half.”
"My defenders did very well covering space and in the second half we were very good. I don't think we were lucky,” he continued.
Iran’s outfit is scheduled to take on Japan on Monday while Qatar will play against Yemen.
Four top teams of AFC U-19 Championship Bahrain 2016 will receive tickets to 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, to be hosted by South Korea between 20 May and 11 June 2017.
