Dwi Soetjipto, the President Director and CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero), Indonesia's state-owned energy company, announced on Friday that the first cargo of Iran’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was offloaded at Kalbut Port in Situbondo, East Java of Indonesia on Thursday.
The arrival of the VLGC Pertamina Gas 2 vessel carrying 44,000 metric tons of LPG was welcomed with fanfare as the event was described by the Indonesians as an opener for a new era of gas and oil cooperation between the two countries.
“The LPG shipment from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) would open up other business development opportunities between Pertamina and the NIOC, in both the upstream and downstream sectors,” said Soetjipto at the ceremony to welcome the cargo.
On October 01, the vessel loaded with the LPG cargo left Asaluyeh Port in Iran for a 13 day journey to Indonesian port of Kalbut, as the first shipment accorded with the latest agreements made between Pertamina and the NIOC for a trade of a total volume of 600,000 tons of LPG for 2016 and 2017.The second shipment is expected to arrive on November 20.
Meanwhile, in addition to LPG deal between the two companies, Ab-Teymour and Mansouri, are two giant oil fields in Iran to be explored for an oil reserve of more than 5 billion barrels and Pertamina has signed an agreement with the NIOC to conduct the preliminary studies for.
