Koji Omi, Founder and Chairman of Science and Technology in Society forum (STS forum), made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with Iranian Minister of Science and Technology, Mohammad Farhadi, in the Japanese city of Kyoto. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 13th Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum where Farhadi discussed sustainable development, migration, brain-drain, urbanization process, and the need for closer cooperation among countries.
“Due to the remarkable advances achieved by Iran in various scientific and research fields, we would like to expand our cooperation with the country,” he said.
Iran, as a leading country in technological and scientific fields, needs to have a more active participation in the STS, he added.
Mr. Koji also voiced his interest for paying a visit to Iran.
Iran’s minister of science, for his part, expressed Iran’s willingness to increase cooperation with the STS. Farhadi further praised STS as an organization that can utilize science and technology for resolving the current issues facing human communities.
