During a telephone conversation with Syria’s Deputy FM Faisal Mekdad on Monday, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, expressed Iran’s readiness for delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrian city of Aleppo, where the Syrian government forces are carrying out an offensive against the Nusra Front, and other terrorist groups.
The Syrian diplomat welcomed the humanitarian proposal from the Iranian side.
The two sides further highlighted the need for serious efforts concentrated on humanitarian issues and the facilitation of relief operations in the war-stricken areas of Syria.
Meanwhile, Jaberi Ansari also held a telephone conversation with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on the developments in Syria on Monday, and discussed ways for a further facilitation of relief delivery to the war-torn country.
Syria has just recently come out of a week-long cessation of hostilities that ended on Friday following numerous violations of the ceasefire by armed militants and terrorist groups.
