TEHRAN, Sep. 25 (MNA) – An IOOC official has reported in new plans to increase Iran’s oil production capacity in the Persian Gulf.

Director of the platform at Reshadat Oilfield in the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) Fariborz Edraki described the new plans to raise the level of Iran’s crude production in the Persian Gulf saying “a new separation unit at Reshadat unit has become operational.”

The official pointed to preparation of two wells and installation of a drilling rig at the Iranian field asserting “the production capacity is expected to increase by 5 to 7 thousand barrels upon completion of the drilling project within a few weeks.”

Five years earlier, the process to eliminate the bottlenecks in boosting the capacity of oil, water and gas separation kicked off to exploit potentials of the field’s new oil wells by launching oil production; “one basic problem facing old facilities was low separation capacity, a difficulty which was overcome after an unused separator came on stream after going through technical inspection and receiving primary approval.

Edraki went on to note that the new separation unit of Reshadat oilfield has now been installed and made operational by Iranian experts stressing “increased separation capacity would lead to higher production rates in the Persian Gulf.”

Different stages of design, installation and operation of offshore sections of the developmental plan for Reshadat oilfield in the Persian Gulf have been underway over the past five years while, so far, the first phase of the project has begun operation with a daily capacity of ten thousand barrels of oil.

The next two developmental phased of the Iranian field are expected to boost the field’s production capacity to an aggregate total of 76 thousand barrels per day.

Located in the Persian Gulf 110km south-west of the Lavan Island of Iran, Reshadat oil field, which was known as Rostam oil field before 1979, was discovered in 1965 and was developed by the Iranian-Italian company, IMINICO. The oil field is being operated by Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC).
