Khosro Piri, director general of Office for Technology at the Science, Research and Technology Ministry, made the announcement at a joint meeting with directors and representatives of world’s technological parks in Moscow, adding “Iran was elected with 86% of votes as the 2018 host of the global conference of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP).”
The conference will be hosted by Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) located next to the Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) in north of Isfahan. ISTT is an environment where different elements such as research centers, manufacturing and service companies, and R&D units of government organizations and/or industrial units have been conglomerated into a vast town.
“Today, ISTT is considered as a national center and will definitely prove to be a good host for the future IASP conference,” he stressed.
This year’s IASP innovation conference was held in Russia on Sep. 20. An Iranian delegation led by Vahid Ahmadi, deputy head of research and technology at the Ministry of Science, and comprising a number of directors of Iranian science and technology parks, participated in the four-day event.
Turkey will host the next IASP in Sep. 2017.
