TEHRAN, Sep. 15 (MNA) – In a message to his Nicaraguan counterpart, President Hassan Rouhani of Iran felicitated the anniversary of Nicaraguan independence declared on September 15, 1821.

“I hope Tehran-Managua relations develop in all areas more than before with the reciprocal efforts off the officials of both countries,” reads part of congratulatory message of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani to his Nicaraguan counterpart José Daniel Ortega Saavedra.

Addressing President Daniel Ortega Saavedra, Rouhani wished him, the government and the nation of Nicaragua well-being, progress, and prosperity.

On the same day on September 15, 1821, Nicaragua along with with four other Central American countries, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, gained their independence from Spain.

Iran-Nicaragua relations has been recently on a growing trend as Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid a visit to the country in late August and met with some senior officials of the country.

Also the joint Iran-Nicaragua economic conference was held at Nicaragua’s presidential office during Zarif’s visit to the Latin American state.
