In the opening day of the Cadet World Championship 2016 of Wrestling in Tbilisi of Georgia, on Tuesday morning, three Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers found their way to the final and one Iranian athlete reached the bronze event.
In the 50 kilogram weight division, Poya Soulat Dad Marz of Iran first defeated Belarusian wrestler Aliaksandr Pechurenka to stand against Georgia’s Giorgi Shotadze wrestler at the 1/4 Final round. Dad Marz lost to the hosts’ representative and as the Georgian wrestler reached the final Dad Marz found another chance for the medal and defeated Constantin Benone Lupu of Romania 7-0 and reached the mat for the bronze against Zaur Nuriyev.
Reza Ali Mardi Gheshlaghi, Iran’s representative in 54 kilogram weight class, after a first‐round bye, lost to Sachin Rana of India and was eliminated as the Indian athlete lost in the next round.
Mohammad Reza Hojatollah Mokhtari, the Iranian young wrestler of 58 kilogram weight division, staged an awe-inspiring performance on the mat and, after a first ‐ round bye, defeated Erbol Bakirov of Kyrgyzstan before winning over his Turkish opponent, Abdul Samet Basar. Mokhtari defeated American wrestler Jack Russell Davis at the semi-final round and is going to fight against Valentin Petic of Moldova in the final bout of the division.
The other Iranian wrestler who found his way to the final was, Yousef Hajiali Hosseinvand Fathi. Hosseinvand Fathi defeated all his opponents of the 63 kilogram weight category to the final event against Russia’s Sergei Stepanov.
Vahid Dadkhah Ghasem Abadi, Iranian cadet Greco-roman wrestler of 100 kilogram weight class is to fight the final bout of his weigh division against Polish wrestler Gerard Cyprian Kurniczak.
