The 9th Asian Wushu Championships is underway in Taoyuan City, Taiwan with Iran winning two silver medals in Taolu principle as well as two bronze in Sanda event.
Competing at -56kg weight category, Mehdi Mohammadi of Iran reached semifinals by defeating Kyrgyz and Macau rivals. Meanwhile, he failed to reach finals after conceding a defeat against the 2015 world vice-champion of Vietnam. Accordingly, Iran’s Mohammadi stood on the third podium.
Also in women’s events, Soheila Mansourian, who had reached semifinals after defeating a prominent South Korean rival, lost to a Chinese wushu practitioner and bagged a bronze medal.
Three other Iranian representative, namely Elaheh Mansourian (-56kg), Morteza Azimi (+90kg) as well as Erfan Ahangaran (-60kg) have all reached finals having a good chance to win gold medals for the country.
Previously, Reza Khalafzadeh and Farshad Arabi had scooped silver medals for the Iranian outfit.
The 9th edition of Asian Junior Wushu Championships opened in Taoyuan City, Taiwan September 01, 2016 and will wrap up on September 05. The sporting event has brought together wushu artists from 24 Asian countries.
