DEIR EZZOR, Sep. 04 (MNA) – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) branch in Deir Ezzor started on Saturday the distribution of food aid to locals provided by the World Food Program (WFP).

Head of the SARC branch Anas Ashawy said in a statement that the distribution of aid, which continues until next Friday, is done in accordance with a timetable for the city neighborhoods and it covers 22,000 families, adding that each of them will receive bags weighing 16 kg containing sugar, bulgur, lentil, and salt.

Last week, food aid was airdropped in Deir Ezzor using parachutes by the Syrian and Russian aircrafts.

Deir Ezzor has been under siege by ISIL terrorist organization for more than a year and a half, which prevents providing food, medicine, and fuel to the locals.
