Speaking at an IRIB program in Isfahan, Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan pointed to the country’s ability to design and produce all required weapons saying “armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are prepared to the extent that no country would dare to think of invading Iran.”
This, however, does not mean enemies like the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia would not want to threaten or attack Iran as they offer ‘options on the table’ every now and then, said the official adding “nevertheless, they refuse to take action since it would be trying in vain.”
Defense minister stressed that Iran is active in several areas of defense industry asserting “one pertains to ground warfare the requirements of which, including tanks, infantry equipment, tactical vehicles, ammunition, are being produced indigenously.”
“In missile industries, the country is active in three areas of defense, ballistic as well as land and sea cruise,” he continued.
He underscored that Iranian missiles can be upgraded over a period of 3-4 months if need be.
Brig. Gen. Dehghan went on to touch upon the electronic sector as the third arena explaining “previously, we only owned analog communication systems though they have all been digitized offering a wide range of products.”
“Iran is now producing and exporting all families of radars including long-range systems,” said the official concluding “we are also after commercial production of helicopters as well as that design flaws of the first Iranian civil airplane have been fixed.”
