TEHRAN, Aug. 26 (MNA) – The three-day annual gathering of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) was opened in Tehran on Thursday.

The 42nd annual meeting of the AIBD (the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development) and its associates meetings like the 15th AIBD General Conference, AIBD’s Executive Board (EXBO) meeting, was inaugurated at the Khorshied Hall of the IRIB International Conference Center on Thursday in the afternoon.

The opening event was attended by Abdolali Ali Asgari, the Head of Iran’s national broadcasting AKA IRIB, Abbas Nasseri Taheri, IRIB’s top consultanat, Sa’dollah Nasiri Ghidari, Director General of IRIB’s international affairs, Seyyed Ramezan Musavi, the Deputy Head of IRIB, Mrs Dra Rosaria Niken Widiastuti, Director General of Information and Public Communication of AIBD, and Khieu Kanharith, the Cambodian Minister of Information.

Abbas Nasseri Taheri had already told the media that about 60 foreign guests coming from 17 countries are expected to attend the conference. A number of meetings have been arranged for the participating guests and the AIBD Awards Winners of 2016 will also be announced at the inauguration ceremony.

The event will be wrapped up on August 27,  2016.

Established in 1977 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the AIBD is headquartered in Malaysia.

Radio and TV representatives from 17 countries will attend the gathering to foster international cooperation and present joint products.

The body also holds an annual competition for radio and television programs, and the top works are presented prestigious awards.
