TEHRAN, Jul. 26 (MNA) – Iran’s national Men’s volleyball team left Tehran for Rio de Janeiro early Tuesday morning to participate at 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

The Iranian outfit will experience their first presence in Olympic extravaganza while they had secured berths by finishing runner-up at the 1st World Qualifier in Japan held in Japan.

Volleyball players of Iran departed for Brazil on Tuesday morning from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA).

On road to Brazil, the Iranian athletes will land in Frankfurt of Germany while following a 13-hour hiatus, they will resume the air journey before landing in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday morning at 5:00 a.m. local time.

The national Iranian men’s volleyball team is expected to play two friendly matches against Brazil on July 30 and 31 as a warm-up ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Iran is scheduled to face Argentinian rivals on August 7 in their first encounter at Rio Olympics.

The volleyball tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will be played between 6 and 21 August while 24 volleyball teams and 48 beach volleyball teams, total 386 athletes, will participate in the tournament.
