TEHRAN, Jul. 20 (MNA) – Adel Azar has been elected as the new director of the Supreme Audit Court of Iran (SAC).

The open session of the Iranian Parliament put selection of director and prosecuting attorney of the Supreme Audit Court (SAC) on agenda.

Accordingly, Adel Azar was appointed as new SAC director upon securing 200 of 231 total voted casted by Members of the Parliament (MPs).

Also, Iranian MPs elected Fayyaz Shojaei as the prosecuting attorney of SAC after he received 192 of 226 total votes.

Statistical Center of Iran's Director Adel Azar had been earlier nominated for the position by the Parliament’s Planning, Budget and Audit Commission.

SAC is a government agency overseen by the parliament. The state body is tasked with controlling the financial operations of all ministries, institutions, government companies and organizations that benefit from the state budget in any manner.
