“The prospect of Tehran-London relations is still positive, after the change of PM and cabinet in the UK, and it is even expected that Brexit positively contributes to the economic ties of countries like Iran with Britain,” said, on Thursday, Iranian Energy Minister, Hamid Chitchian, who is, heading a delegation for talks on attracting investment and finding ways to develop bilateral water and energy cooperation, in London since Monday,.
When asked about the change of the British prime minister and the cabinet of the UK, Chitchian articulated that the bilateral agreements are dependent on any specific cabinet or PM of the UK. The Iranian minister stressed that the signed documents between Tehran and London are in action under any cabinet or administration of both countries.
“Our evaluation is that Brexit is advantageous for countries like Iran, as part of British export and import was under EU regulations while the country was a member state of the union, and now better trade and economic ties are in prospect for Tehran-London relations,” commented the Iranian energy minister on Britain’s exit from the European Union.
After 52% of the British voters voted for UK leave after a referendum on June 23, the UK withdrew from the union and after that PM Cameron stepped down. Theresa May succeeded James Cameron.
