TEHRAN, Jul. 10 (MNA) – Iranian wrestlers have scooped more medals at the 2016 Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship underway in Taiwan.

The 2016 edition of Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship began on Thursday July 7 in Taichung city of Taiwan and will come to an end on Sunday June 10.

Iran’s Hossein Forouzandeh bagged the gold medal of 76kg at Greco-Roman section while the freestyler Mohammad Talebi (63kg) and Greco-Roman wrestler Mohammadreza Rostami (69kg) won silver and bronze medals for the Iranian squad, respectively.

Hamed Rahimi (58kg), who had subdued the South Korean (6-1) and Indian (8-2) rivals and failed to down a Japanese freestyler in the semifinal round, conceded a defeat against his Kazakh rival in the repechage round in order to finish in the fifth place.

Having reached the final round, Mohammad Talebi (63kg) missed the chance to snatch a gold medal due to eye injury as he conceded a 1-6 defeat against the Japanese wrestler Hiromu Sakaki.

In 69kg category of Greco-Roman wrestling, Mohammadreza Rostami overwhelmed Kyrgyz and Indian rivals on road to the semifinal round where he conceded a 1-10 defeat against a wrestler of Kyrgyzstan. Later, he subdued Kazakhstan's Eli Magomadov to stand on the third podium.

Iran's other finalist on the third day of the Asian meet was Hossein Forouzandeh snatched the gold medal after downing Stanislav Rylskiy Kazakhstan. Forouzandeh, who was fighting at 76-kilogram weight category, had to overcome Greco-Roman wrestlers from Kyrgyzstan (5-2), Kazakhstan (4-0) as well as India (5-2) in earlier rounds.

Wrestlers in remaining weight categories faced each other today as the final day of the tournament with two Iranian athletes finding ways to finals.

Abolfazl Aramideh won over Kumar Sahil of India in the first round of 42kg weight category though he conceded a 0-7 defeat against Kazakhstan’s Shair Shabanov. Given that his Kazakh rival reached the final round, Iran’s Aramideh managed to defeat a host country wrestler gaining the chance to compete for bronze medal in the afternoon.

Competing at 46-kilogram weight group, Amirhossein Khodabakhshi breezed past Temirlan Bolsunbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan 8-3 though he conceded a 0-10 defeat against Uzbekistan’s Rustambek Jureva. Later he hammered Rattammanun Ratanathiwat of Thailand by technical fall in the repechage round and will fight for the bronze medal.

Iran’s other freestyler at 50kg category Amir Parasteh defeated Kazakh (10-0), Uzbek (6-0) and Kazakh (12-2) athletes on road to the final round where he will face Kaito Morikawa of Japan

Hassan Forouzandeh (85kg) at Greco-Roman group also reached the final round by prevailing over Kyrgyzstan’s Medar Abykeev (2-0) as well as Mostafa Gasanov of Kazakhstan (5-0). Forouzandeh, who had struck an off draw in the first round, is scheduled to meet the Indian wrestler Kumar Sunil in an attempt to stand on the top podium.

Iran’s heavy-weight Greco-Roman wrestler Mohammadreza Ramezani got the upper hand over Kamil Dzhumaza of Kyrgyzstan in the qualification round though he conceded an 8-0 defeat against India’s Aawesh Aawesh in the quarterfinals dropping out of the tournament.
