Speaking at an Iftar ceremony attended by veterans and martyrs' families of Navy of Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday, Iranian Navy Commander Habibollah Sayyari pointed to the boost in Navy’s recent military capabilities and said “to enhance the military empowerment of missile groups, electronic warfare and strong air-to-sea drones have been deployed at all the coastes."
He added Iran’s Navy today enjoys considerable military power in various fields of EW, drones and floating air-to-sea missiles.
Pointing to the production of new fleets in Iran’s Army, Sayyari noted that Jamaran, Damavand and Sahand destroyers have been exploited during the implementation of Navy’s Mowj (Wave) project.
Sayyari said in the field of naval submarines, Iran’s Navy has acquired Ghadir-class midget submarines today and will operate Fateh medium submarine by the end of the year.
Pointing to the establishment of security in Navy ships, Sayyari said 10 thousand ships were escorted by Iran’s Navy during the time of Imposed War to help stabilize economic problems of the country.
Navy commander also announced the escort of over 3,000 ships in the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden and Bab el-Mandeb by Navy's fleets which are constantly present in all world’s waters.
He underlined that Iran’s Navy has never been absent even for one day in the northern Indian Ocean and particularly Gulf of Aden since 2008.
Sayyari also referred to Iran's peace and friendship flotilla saying they are today deployed in the Pacific Ocean, South China Sea, the South Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and Caspian Sea establishing good transactions in the region.
