TEHRAN, Jun. 27 (MNA) – Iran students’ national volleyball team overcame Armenia 2-0 on the first day of ISF World Schools Championship Volleyball 2016 underway in Serbia.

Pointing to the excellent performance of Iranian players in their opening match, Head of Iran's Volleyball Team Mehdi Ebrahim Bay Salami said “the volleyball championship matches are held by the International Student Federation (ISF) once in every two years in a European country with Serbia being the 2016 host.”

“The event has attracted national student volleyball teams from 32 countries who are competing in boys’ and girls’ sections,” he added.

World Schools Championship Volleyball is being competed in Belgrade and Pancevo from 25 June to 3 July.

The tournament sees 8 groups each comprising 4 teams who play the best volleyball in the world.

Iran has been seeded against Armenia, Denmark and Germany in Group D of the 2016 ISFWSC Volleyball.
