TEHRAN, Jun. 27 (MNA) – Ministry of Culture Foreign Media Secretariat has said around 149 foreign media including TV, radio, news agency, print media and photo-print media has won permission to work in Iran, with 98 media being of Islamic countries.

Mohammad Jafar Safi told an IRIB Radio broadcaster news program on Sunday that this number of media had had grounded 300 journalist to cover the news stories and political event for their fellow countries and the world at large; “201 of the grounded journalists and photojournalists are Iranians by nationality and 98 others are of different nationalities,” Mr. Safi added. “Those media not granted permanent representation would apply for timed activities; 29 countries have news representative in Iran, with 11 countries being Islamic, and remaining 9 are European; Iraq has the largest number of media representatives with 18 media; of 29 countries having representation, employ their foreign staff the majority of which are Asian; 5 journalists are of European nationalities,” he detailed.

“In terms of diversity of activity, 77 media cover regional and international issues in TV and radio; 34 are news agencies covering the same sections; 27 are international dailies, and 11 are professional photojournalism institutes; 40 TV and radio belong to Islamic countries to which Al-Manar, Al-Mayadeen, Asia Lebanon, Al-Ittijah, Al-Forat, Biladi, Al-Ahd, Hilal, Quds, Ulusal, and many more belong,” Mr. Safi told the program.
